Several celebrities came to Will Smith's side after the newly Oscar-winning actor walked on stage and slapped Chris Rock during the 94th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday (March 27).
The shocking incident came as Chris Rock presented the award for Best Documentary and the comedian-director joked that he couldn't wait to see Will's wife, actress Jada Pinkett-Smith in the fictional film, "G.I. Jane 2" as a reference to her bald head. Pinkett-Smith has come out publicly to address her battle with alopecia –– a medical condition that leads to hair loss.
After the stunning moment, Denzel Washington, Tyler Perry, Bradley Cooper and others were spotted coming to Will's side as the actor wiped away tears. During his acceptance speech for Best Actor, Will offered an emotional apology and slight insight into what he led up to the slap.
"At your highest moment, be careful that's when the devil comes for you," Will said Washington advised him during their sidebar conversation.
