Horseshoe Lake - One look at this lake and it can't help to think what the drought has done to California  Disappointed-face4

This sunset gave me the chill because somewhere in that mountain range is where I will set up camp the next night.

This shot was taken by chance.  I was hiking to my campground for the night and it suddenly started to rain...not just raining but hailing as well.  As I was taking refuge from the rain I saw this lone tree and found it interesting.  It looks like a giant bonsai tree.  Not caring about the rain (or the golf ball size hail  Lol  j/k) I just ran out, composed quickly with my phone for a shot using that mountain as a background.  Those white spots/streaks are actually the falling hail pellets.

Thanks for the pictures, anh Mong Manh. Hello

Did you hear the sound of thunder and see lightning before it started to rain? I would be so scared in that situation because it could become quite dangerous, especially when you are in open areas high up in the mountain and lightning strikes usually occur more often at higher elevations. Next time if you run into a thunderstorm while out on a trail please consider turning around if you are not too far from the trailhead. Be safe, anh! :)

Grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes4

Đi hiking lúc trời mưa lâm râm thì Sophie lại thích.  Shy

Yes, I read about what to do if I ever found myself in the middle of a mountain thunderstorm.  The tips were easy to understand but out in the field sometimes it's not easy to follow. Last time I was more than halfway to the destination I could not return as recommended.

A friend from Petaluma came down for a visit with his plane.  He offered a fly over Los Angeles.  It was nice to get to see Los Angeles from above 2000 ft.  It's a small plane so it was a little scary, but a good experience  Grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes4

Maybe next time when you visit your friend in Petaluma, ask him to fly you over the San Francisco Bay.  Biggrin

Ừ, ngồi trong cabin cũng hơi sợ tại nó có cảm giác nếu gặp gió mạnh chắc sẽ bị thổi rơi xuống đất luôn  Grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes4

He did give me a fly over the Bay area a few years ago.  That time was scarier because it was so windy that night  Grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes4

The trip was fun.  It has everything: to get to beautiful lakes there are steep hikes on the trail, smoke from a nearby fire, very hot during the day, and freezing cold at night -not to mention wind gusts that tried to knock down my tent.  I was exhausted to find all that exciting though  Grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes4   Anyway, to cut down the weight for the trip, I brought with me a point-and-shoot camera.  Couldn't really do much with it.  I didn't want to wade through a stream in near-total darkness for a good composition, so I used my tent as a foreground for the shot.    As you can see, that's my reward for being lazy  Biggrin

Looks like you still need your DSLR and its lenses for the Milky Way shots. Biggrin
