Adam was going on and on about the importance of light, but he still would not put it ahead of composition.  Most professional photographers would think like Adam.  I agree that composition would make a picture better, more interesting because of its story telling ability.  It distinguishes itself from a snapshot.  There are times, however, I’ve found that light is just as important.  On occasion(s) a person can compose all he wants but without good lights the scenery before him would not make a memorable photograph.  

So, “let there be light”    










No amount of composition can turn a waterfall into a firefall without light    


 

The one below should have been composed better.   At a different angle and with a better lens the moonbow would have been more defined.  In my defense, however, it was dark so searching for a better angle was hard.  Also, I captured this shot under the moonlight, so technically light was still needed
