NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - A botched $5 eyebrow job and refusal to pay were reportedly the reason behind a brawl that broke out inside a nail salon in Brooklyn Friday night.

The wild scene was captured on cell phone video.  In it, the nail salon workers get into a fight with two customers. The workers take broomsticks and pummel the women.

There is a man holding one of the women as the workers attack at the New Red Apple Nails on Norstrand Avenue in East Flatbush.


Customer Mercy Maduka who shot the video shared it with the caption: "So I’m at the nail salon and they [expletive] up a lady eyebrow and she refused to pay then a fight broke outttt Share this cause the cops decided to arrest the black people but not the Chinese people who ganged up on them‼️‼️ 1426 Nostrand ave Hitting them like animals 🤦🏾‍♀️."

Huiyue Zheng, 32, was charged with assault and weapon possession, reported the NY Post. Customer Christina Thomas was booked on misdemeanor assault and other charges. Both were released on their own recognizance.

A protest was held outside the salon on Monday morning.

Nail Salon Workers Beat Customers After One Refused to Pay $5 For Bad Eyebrow Job

A nail salon in New York is under fire after a video of its employees beating customers with broomsticks and dustpans surfaced online.

The mayhem at New Red Apple Nails in East Flatbush, Brooklyn occurred after one customer allegedly refused to pay $5 because almost all her eyebrows were removed during a service.


In the video, the salon workers — who are all Asian — can be seen gathering around a Black female customer before one smacks her with a broomstick.


The customer manages to escape after taking multiple hits.


The workers then turn their attention to two other customers pinned in a corner.



“That’s my grandmother!” one of them yells as the worker with the broomstick strikes.


Moments later, the escaped customer returns with a man who tries to stop the workers.

The brawl continues for another 30 seconds.


“Call the cops! Call the cops! Call the cops!” the granddaughter screams.

Meanwhile, her grandmother is heard telling the workers, “I didn’t do that!”


The scene was filmed by another customer, Mercy Maduka, who shared it on Facebook.

“Hitting them like animals.”

New York Daily News reported that 32-year-old Huiyue Zheng, the worker who struck with the broomstick, was arrested and charged with assault and weapon possession. She was released on Saturday after personal recognizance.

Authorities also arrested Christina Thomas, the customer Zheng first struck, and charged her with misdemeanor assault after allegedly punching, slapping and dragging a 35-year-old woman in the salon. 

Apparently, the accusation was not filmed.
Thomas was also released on personal recognizance.

BROOKLYN, New York (NV) – Hàng chục người kéo đến tụ tập trước của một tiệm nail do người Hoa làm chủ ở khu Brooklyn, New York, hôm Thứ Hai 6 Tháng Tám, sau khi có hình ảnh video loan truyền trên mạng về cuộc ẩu đả giữa các khách hàng da đen và nhân viên tiệm này.

Đoạn video, vốn được đưa lên Facebook hôm Thứ Sáu tuần trước và đã được ít nhất 750,000 lượt người xem, cho thấy một nhân viên Á Đông tại tiệm nail Happy Red Apple Nails, ở khu East Flatbush, dùng cán chổi đánh vào hai nữ khách hàng da đen, trong khi các nhân viên khác kéo áo, xô đẩy hai khách hàng này.

Theo bản tin tờ Washington Post, khu East Flatbush là khu dân lao động với 86% người da đen và 1% dân Á Châu.

Cuộc biểu tình mang màu sắc kỳ thị chủng tộc bùng ra hôm Thứ Hai. Người biểu tình hô khẩu hiệu đòi đóng cửa vĩnh viễn tiệm nail này. Họ cũng nói muốn có sự chú ý về cách đối xử tệ hại với người da đen trong cộng đồng, đặc biệt là về tình trạng căng thẳng giữa cộng đồng da đen và Á Châu.

Hiện chưa biết rõ vì sao có cuộc ẩu đả này, tuy nhiên có hai người đã bị cảnh sát bắt giữ hôm Thứ Sáu. Trong đó có một người là nhân viên của tiệm nail bà Huiyue Zheng, 32 tuổi, bị bắt về tội tấn công có tính cách hình sự và ba tội tiểu hình liên quan đến đe dọa, mang võ khí và sách nhiễu. Người bị bắt thứ hai là khách hàng tên Christina Thomas, 21 tuổi, bị bắt về ba tội tiểu hình là tấn công, đe dọa và sách nhiễu, theo tin cảnh sát.

Bà Abby Moses, mẹ của cô Thomas, nói với báo chí rằng bà đến biểu tình để “đòi công lý cho bà mẹ 58 tuổi và con gái 21 tuổi, do bị hắt acetone vào người và bị đánh bằng gậy như trong thập niên 60.”

Bà Moses, 38 tuổi, nói không hiện diện ở tiệm lúc xảy ra ẩu đả, nhưng cho biết con của bà đến gặp quản lý tiệm để than phiền về việc lông mày hầu như bị nhổ sạch và nói không muốn trả tiền cho dịch vụ này.
Quản lý tiệm Michael Lin nói sẽ gọi cảnh sát. Cô Thomas định bước ra ngoài. Nhân viên đứng chặn cửa và thế là cuộc ẩu đả xảy ra.

Một khách hàng, bà Nora Colpas, nói đã đến tiệm nail này từ hơn 10 năm nay và cho rằng “Michael là người dễ thương nên tôi rất ngạc nhiên khi biết chuyện này”.

Tuy nhiên, người tham dự biểu tình nói dù thế nào chăng nữa, người của tiệm không có quyền đánh khách hàng hay hắt acetone vào họ. (V.Giang)
