------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SAU ĐÓ MÌNH CỘNG LẠI ... A + B + C = 3 CON CÁ HẰNG NĂM , MIỄN SAO LÀ MÌNH VẪN CÒN NGỒI GHẾ NHÀ TRƯỜNG  Rollin

***

Calculation cái hồ cá  Shy

i. tuition = 5000

ii. education = 80 x 4 = 320 (fulltime)             50 x 3 = 150 (parttime)                  320 + 150 = 470 (total education)

iii. textbooks = 60 x 4 = 240 (fulltime)             40 x 3 = 120 (parttime)                  240 + 120 = 360 (total textbooks)

............................ CHO TỚI KHI HỒ CẠN THÌ ...

FINISH  Shy

***

YOUR TUITION , EDUCATION , TEXTBOOK AMOUNTS

- Michelle giúp má giãm thuế , Michelle gởi bớt credit qua cho má ... 5000 - 2000 = 3000 , má bỏ 3000 và tờ khai thuế của má ... TUITION TRANSFERRED FROM CHILD

i. Interest on Student loans

- cho dù cha mẹ  trả tiền loan , chứ không phải học sinh trả , cha mẹ vẫn không claim được "the interest" , mà chỉ có học sinh mới có quyền claim "the interest"

- học sinh có thể claim "the interest" cho .. taxation year hiện tại + 5 năm trước đó

- không phải loan nào cũng claim được "the interest" , mà chĩ những loans có liên hệ trực tiếp đến "Canada Student Loans" mới claim được "the interest" , ngay cả "Personal Student Loans" cũng không được claim "the interest"

- tĩ dụ như mấy loans mượn từ "The Credit lines hay Business Loan" , mặc dù là mượn để đi học , nhưng vẫn không claim được "the interest"

- claim được cho cả 2 bên FEDERAL & PROVINCIAL

last but not least

- nếu INCOME TAX của học sinh > THE INTEREST .... thì claim "the interest"  Ok-sign-smiley-emoticon

j. Amounts transferred from your spouse or common law partner

i. "their " Age amount

ii. "their" Canadian Caregiver for the infirm children ... dưới 18 tuổi

iii. "their" Pension income amount

iv. "their" Disability amount

12 states banning COVID-19 vaccine mandates & how they affect healthcare workers
Hannah Mitchell - Updated Tuesday, October 12th, 2021 Print  | Email

TEXT
A dozen governors have signed legislation restricting COVID-19 vaccine mandates in their states, according to a Sept. 9 report from the National Academy for State Health Policy.

Editor's Note: This webpage was updated Oct. 12 and will continue to be updated.

Arizona: On April 19, Republican Gov. Doug Ducey issued an order prohibiting the state from requiring people to prove their COVID-19 vaccination status to enter a business, building or area or to receive a public service. However, healthcare institutions can request COVID-19 vaccination status documentation of patients, residents, employees or visitors.

On June 30, Mr. Ducey signed a bill requiring employers to provide reasonable accommodation to employees with sincerely held religious beliefs, practices or observances that prevent the employee from getting the COVID-19 vaccine unless the accommodation would pose an undue hardship to the operation of the business. The bill allows healthcare institutions to require employees to be vaccinated.

Arkansas: On April 28, the state enacted a bill prohibiting the state, political subdivisions of the state or public officials from mandating vaccination as a condition of employment. These agencies may not discriminate against or coerce individuals who refuse a COVID-19 vaccine by withholding opportunities for career advancement, wage increases or insurance discounts.

Georgia: On May 25, Republican Gov. Brian Kemp said that no state agency can require proof of COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment by the state, conducting business with the state or enjoying other rights provided by the state.

Florida: On April 2, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis said businesses are prohibited from requiring customers to verify a COVID-19 vaccination status or post-transmission recovery to gain access to the business. Effective Sept. 16, the state will give $5,000 fines to any public or private entity that requires proof of vaccination, News 4 Jax reported. Since asking for proof of vaccination is part of a vaccine mandate, some companies may pay millions of dollars in fines.

Indiana: On April 29, Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb signed a law prohibiting state or local governments from requiring anyone, including employees, to show proof of vaccination.

Montana: On May 7, Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte signed a bill that prohibits discrimination based on vaccination status. This includes prohibiting an employer or government entity to refuse employment to a person or to discriminate against a person in compensation or in a term, condition or privilege of employment based on the person's vaccination status. Additionally, an individual may not be required to receive any vaccine whose use is allowed under an emergency use authorization or any vaccine undergoing safety trials.

New Hampshire: On July 26, Republican Gov. Chris Sununu signed a bill stating that employers may only mandate immunization as a condition of employment when a "direct threat" exists. A "direct threat" is defined as a significant risk of substantial harm to the health or safety of the individual or others that cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation. State hospitals are exempt from the mandate

North Dakota: On May 7, Republican Gov. Doug Burgum signed a bill prohibiting state government entities from requiring a private business to obtain documentation to verify an individual's vaccination status. The bill exempts healthcare organizations from the ban.

Oklahoma: On May 28, Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt issued an order prohibiting state agencies from requiring that people show proof of vaccination to enter public buildings. The order doesn't apply to employees working in patient-facing settings.

Tennessee: On May 25, Republican Gov. Bill Lee signed a bill that prohibits a state agency, department or political subdivision from mandating COVID-19 vaccines.

Texas: Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order Oct. 11 banning any entity in the state, including private employers, from enforcing COVID-19 vaccine mandates. The order states that "no entity in Texas" can enforce vaccination against anyone, including an employee or consumer, who objects "for any reason of personal conscience, based on a religious belief, or for medical reasons, including prior recovery from COVID-19."

Utah: On March 16, Republican Gov. Spencer Cox signed a bill that prohibits state agencies from requiring people to get a COVID-19 vaccine as a condition of employment. However, the bill does not apply to employees who work in a medical setting and are required to receive vaccinations to perform the assigned duties and responsibilities of the job.

Hundreds of hospital staffers fired or suspended for refusing COVID-19 vaccine mandate
President Biden announced a vaccine mandate for the health care industry.

Hundreds of health care workers across the country are being fired or suspended in droves for not complying with COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

President Joe Biden announced earlier this month a vaccine mandate for health care facilities that receive Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, impacting some 17 million health care workers in the nation.

States including New York, California, Rhode Island and Connecticut also set vaccine mandates for health care workers that take effect this week.

But there are brewing concerns over staff shortages at already-overburdened hospitals still grappling with COVID-19 cases. Some hospital networks said they've ramped up hiring ahead of vaccine deadlines to stabilize their workforces.

ABC News contributor John Brownstein, an epidemiologist and professor at Harvard Medical School, noted that while overall the number of health care workers being terminated or suspended isn't huge, at the same time, "we can't afford to lose anybody at this point."

“By and large, vaccine mandates are working. Those in health care are taking these vaccine incredibly seriously to protect themselves and their patients." Brownstein said. "We’re seeing a greater need of health care -- there was a lot of deferred care for elective surgeries and behavioral health -- juxtaposed with existing shortages of health care workers. Any impact is going to create even more pressure on health care systems."

In the South and West

In North Carolina, the Novant Health hospital system, which has over 35,000 employees across 15 hospitals and over 800 clinics, fired around 175 of its workers for failing to get vaccinated, officials told ABC News.

Nurses Who Won’t Vax Threaten Staffing Shortages
Front-line workers were already in tight supply. With almost 1 in 8 nursing professionals not planning to get a shot, the problem’s going to get worse.

Mandate the vaccine, and some of your nurses will quit. Don’t mandate the vaccine, and some of your nurses will get Covid—rendering them unable to work, or even landing them in the very intensive care unit where they normally work. For a hospital administrator who’s been dealing with nursing shortages escalating throughout the pandemic, this is the dilemma.

“It’s a cynical question, but what gets us to losing the higher amount of staff?” says Alan Levine, chief executive officer of Ballad Health, which has 21 hospitals and other centers serving patients in Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. He decided not to require vaccinations for his health-care workers after modeling suggested he could see 15% of nurses, or as many as 900, leave if he did. That’s more than he anticipates losing to Covid-19 quarantines and illness, even with the most recent surge filling up the network’s ICUs and 130 staffers quarantining on a single mid-August day. At Ballad, 97% of doctors are vaccinated. Among front-line nurses, he estimates vaccination rates hover around 50%.

It’s hard to comprehend how nurses, who see firsthand evidence of how Covid can kill people, could oppose getting a vaccine that’s been shown in numerous studies to provide extraordinary protection against severe illness and death. But it’s a problem hospital administrators all over the country find themselves facing. In the most recent survey by the American Nurses Association (ANA), fielded as part of a broader coalition of nursing groups intended to combat vaccine hesitancy in its ranks, almost 1 in 8 hadn’t gotten the vaccine or didn’t plan to, despite having had access to the shots for almost nine months.

Demonstrators protest against Houston Methodist’s employee vaccine rule, including Jennifer Bridges (second from right), a nurse who hasn’t been inoculated against Covid.

“The overwhelming number of our nurses are female and young and in childbearing years,” Levine says. Rumors on social media caused some young women to fear that the mRNA vaccines such as those made by Pfizer Inc. and Moderna Inc. could affect their fertility. That’s not true. But it’s a worry that’s taken firm hold in some circles, even after the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists said publicly that there is no evidence the vaccine harms fertility.

In April the government temporarily paused the rollout of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine because of rare cases of blood clots in women. Federal agencies investigated the issue, ruled it a remote risk, and resumed the shots. But the pause left a lasting impression. “What we’ve decided to do, besides jumping right into a mandate, is try to educate staff who are women,” Levine says. “I can’t say that’s generated a whole lot of results yet.”

Vaccine hesitancy has many faces. There are the entrenched beliefs of the vaccine-skeptic campaigners who stoke fears on social media with false health claims. There are those with concerns that the vaccine has been around only a short time. And there are the merely ambivalent, people who aren’t ardently opposed to getting the vaccine but might still need an extra push.

“There are not enough nurses to go around. That is clear”

Nationally, only 35% of hospitals have mandated that staffers get vaccinated against Covid as of Aug. 19, according to the American Hospital Association. With the U.S. Food and Drug Administration fully approving the Pfizer vaccine on Aug. 23, that percentage could rise over the next few months. About 22 states now require Covid vaccinations for at least some health-care workers, according to data from the National Academy for State Health Policy. Not all states are moving in that direction. Four so far—Arkansas, Georgia, Montana, and Tennessee—established bans before the FDA’s Pfizer vaccine approval that could prevent mandates being imposed on some workers. A number of others have yet to weigh in, leaving hospital administrators balancing their staffing concerns with their desire to protect workers and patients.

Houston Methodist, a health system in Texas with eight hospitals and 26,000 employees, says it was the first large hospital system in the nation to mandate Covid vaccinations for its staff. “It was never really a question of if we would mandate,” says CEO Marc Boom, but rather “when would we mandate.” Boom’s team started educating staffers on the importance of the vaccine as early as last fall, before the shots had even gotten the regulatory green light. Then, at the end of last year, Houston Methodist started offering what Boom called a $500 “hope bonus” to employees, knowing the winter months were going to be trying for staff with Covid surging again after the holidays. Employees could qualify for the bonus by late February, but there was a catch: They had to have their first shot by then. When Boom announced a vaccine mandate at the end of March, about 85% of Houston Methodist’s staff were already vaccinated. He estimates Houston Methodist spent $13 million incentivizing its staff to get shots.

Then Boom got word the hospital was being sued. A nurse, Jennifer Bridges, led a group of employees in a lawsuit to overturn the mandate, arguing it would be unlawful for the hospital to force vaccination and that the shots were experimental and dangerous. “When you’re dealing in Covid units, it’s very exhausting. All the PPE you have to put on, you can’t breathe. You’re sweating all day,” Bridges says. “I did it for over a year, and I would do it again if they’d let me.” That said, she wasn’t willing to take the vaccine because she doesn’t believe it’s safe, despite the evidence that regulators and companies have put out showing that it is. A federal judge dismissed the suit, and Houston Methodist lost 153 employees who either resigned or were terminated. “I’m really, really glad we did it,” Boom says of the mandate, particularly now that the hospital is facing another surge. About 838 Covid patients were in his hospital system as of Aug. 24, a number that’s on the rise, breaking records set in previous surges.

Other hospitals have looked at Houston Methodist’s mandate and decided to follow suit even when they’ve had a bigger vaccination gap to overcome. In June, Sanford Health executives were concerned to see that immunization rates among its almost 48,000 employees had stalled at around 50%. So in late July, Sanford announced a vaccine mandate for its 46 medical centers and other facilities across the Upper Midwest. Vaccination levels have since risen to about 70%, which CEO Bill Gassen attributes to the mandate, educational initiatives, and the rapid spread of the delta variant. By Gassen’s estimate, another factor working in Sanford’s favor is that its facilities are located in rural areas, where there aren’t many other employment opportunities. He foresees no more than 1% of his employees leaving over a vaccine mandate.

Many nurses do have opportunities—lucrative ones—if they want to change jobs. Contract and traveling nurses have helped fill gaps and are often well paid for doing so. At Aya Healthcare Inc., a nurse staffing agency, April Hansen, the group president of workforce solutions, has an ICU position advertising pay of about $5,000 for three shifts a week. Other positions are offering more than $10,000 in pay for 60 hours of work a week. The company has more than 43,000 listings for nurses right now, up from almost 13,000 a year ago and 7,300 in August 2019. “There are not enough nurses to go around. That is clear,” Hansen says. “Even with replacements and backfills and travels, there are still not enough.”

Shortages lower morale in nursing units. Some nurses end up leaving hospital jobs for travel nursing gigs, and the ones left behind know that the travel ones filling in can be making as much as four times what they’re getting. “There could be a little animosity there,” ANA President Ernest Grant says. After a year and a half of treating Covid patients, burnout is high. Almost 30% of front-line health-care workers have considered leaving their profession as a result of the pandemic, according to a survey conducted before the most recent Covid surge.

COVID-19: 3 doctors speak out against child vaccinations at Kelowna gathering

Three B.C. doctors who oppose COVID-19 health-related measures made a stop in the Okanagan this week to drum up support for their anti-vaccination views.

The campaign-style event that pushed views that are not supported by scientific consensus was later posted on YouTube and Facebook and showed the doctors, two of whom are no longer practicing, specifically focusing on children, who became eligible for a COVID-19 shot at the end of last month.

Dr. Stephen Malthouse of Denman Island was one of the most well-known speakers and he’s often shared his beliefs through videos, at rallies, and through open letters.

He gained attention in October when he penned an open letter to provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, falsely stating that COVID-19 is no more deadly than the flu and that people are “rarely” becoming sick from it. He’s shifted his focus, though his point of view appears to be the same.

“These kids are our kids, right? And we are hitting the road because they’re going after them,” Malthouse said outside the Embassy Church in Kelowna.

READ MORE: Between 2% and 16% of Okanagan children have received vaccine after first week of rollout

“They’re after your five to 11-year-olds now. It was bad enough when they went after the adolescents, you know. In fact, that’s a very vulnerable group. For the five to 11-year-olds, the parents still have control.

“So we’re actually sending all of you out, I guess, as emissaries to pass the word to be informed, and to find the way to align yourself with your neighbours, and to speak with them and to help them to protect their kids.”

Sticking with that theme, a former Kamloops anesthesiologist, Dr. Rachel Maurice, also spoke about her concerns with the vaccines.

Maurice told the crowd that her children, ages 14 and 16, got the shot against her will because they wanted to be able to participate in activities with their peers.

ĐIỄM CHÁNH Ở FIRST & ĐIỄM CHÁNH Ở LAST ... cho bà con ... dễ suy nghĩ ĩ ĩ

MY POINT ...

VÂN TƯỠNG , CHĨ NHỮNG NGƯỜI CHƯA CHÍCH MỚI SỢ BỊ LÂY

TÉ RA , NHỮNG NGƯỜI CHÍCH RỒI CÒN SỢ BỊ LÂY               NHIỀU HƠN                     NGƯỜI CHƯA CHÍCH  Rollin Rollin Rollin .... isn't that funny ???

VẬY NGƯỜI CHÍCH RỒI CŨNG SỢ LÂY ... NGƯỜI CHƯA CHÍCH CŨNG SỢ LÂY ... WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE ???

LOL

Msn-cheeky-smile-smiley-emoticon
