Comments:

1/ The woman who shouted, "Shut up", is the GOP chairwoman of the Education Committee. What a great example she is to children. No wonder critical thinking isn't high on US schools' curricula.

2/ The disrespect thrown at the journalist who dared to ask a valid question INFURIATED me!!

2a/ That's "entitlement" there for you. These people really DO feel like they are entitled to EXCLUSIVE authority over religion, culture and governance.

2b/ The person denigrated themselves by their actions, it was not at all a loaded question.

2c/ They are showing people who they are. Please believe them, ignore the trolls and vote blue while we can still vote.

3/ I live in North Carolina and I am DISGUSTED by Rep. Virginia Foxx's conduct!! 😡 Screaming "Shut Up!" to a reporter for a Legitimate Question!! Sickening

4/ Telling voters to shut up. Classy.

5/ Rep. Virginia Foxx is a disgrace. If she were my rep I would be letting her office know exactly how out of line she was, and not just for the contempt and discourtesy and immaturity of her shouting.

6/ Virginia Foxx telling reporters to shut up, other GOP congress people laughing about the topic of the question...the idea of American democracy to these people is nothing more than a joke at this point.

7/ Hopefully this is one of the biggest incentives for Democrats to vote in droves in 2024.

Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) was among a group of Republican lawmakers who shouted at a reporter who asked Vice Conference Chair and Speaker nominee Mike Johnson (R-La.) about his involvement in attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

ABC News reporter Rachel Scott was attempting to ask Johnson about his stance on the issue during a press conference Tuesday evening, after he became the latest Speaker nominee.

Johnson was surrounded by various members of the House GOP, who began to laugh and shout as Scott was asking her question. Foxx, one of the members near Johnson, yelled “shut up.”

Foxx has been known for frequently scolding reporters and staff for being on or near members-only elevators in Capitol buildings. She recently told a group of reporters to “get away from the damned elevator.”

In the video, captured by C-SPAN, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) said “oh god” in response to the question. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) laughed.

Many other members booed Scott for her inquiry.

Johnson smiled, shook his head and said “next question.”
