Cheated on, abandoned, and murdered by those who were meant to love him... RIP Daniel.

Poor Daniel So caring, so hardworking, he did almost impossible, working day and night to run his business and to take care of 3 children, and in the end he got abandoned and killed by his own daughter.

Heartbreaking for Daniel. Cheated on by his first wife after he supporter her chasing her dream. His reputation damaged by a false assault accusation from his ex. Rebuilt his life after numerous setbacks when some might have just ended it and all for ultimately being betrayed and killed by his own child who was the reason he kept going and trying to be a good human. Cruel fates don't get much worse.

I've heard about this very sad story before, but this one actually covers  & explains the details and history of Daniel & his previous marriages! Daniel seemed like such a wonderful & delightful person who was failed and betrayed by those whom he loved very much (ex-wife & youngest daughter). May his beautiful sweet soul rest in peace and the grace of God; and those who hurt him get justice for what they deserve. % Thank you for covering this and other cases so beautifully and making them especially easy to follow and understand!

The details of Daniel's murder are horrific, but more than anything else this story left me feeling gutted and heartbroken. That poor man. He overcame so many setbacks and disappointments in his own life and relationships, only to have his life taken in the most gruesome way by a child he absolutely adored. I can't even with any of this.

At the sentencing in October, Sierra offered no apology, while Guerrero did. Both teens pleaded guilty to murder and were sentenced to life with the possibility of parole after 22 years.

Guerrero agreed to speak with 8 News Now from jail the day after learning his fate and before he would be sent to maximum security High Desert State Prison.

Guerrero said he hadn’t been in much trouble previously, had suffered from mental health issues, and wasn’t taking his medication.

“I don’t think I would have been capable of something like that had I been sober, because it’s a psychological drug as most people know, and when you have a mental illness it only makes it worse,” he said.

Today, Guerrero said he is taking the medication he needs, and that if he is ever granted parole, he hopes to show the Halseth family he is a better person. “By proving to them that I’m not a monster, that I still have potential to be a functioning member of society and can benefit society,” he replied.

Sierra Halseth is currently at the Florence McClure Women’s Correctional Center in North Las Vegas. Guerrero said he plans on having no contact with her.

When Guerrero addressed the judge, he apologized to Halseth’s family.

Three of Daniel Halseth’s siblings and his mother spoke during the sentencing hearing, expressing anger at Sierra. Following the hearing, Halseth’s mother, Christine Halseth, said her granddaughter’s statement about him was “nothing but a lie.”

Multiple family members told the judge on Thursday that they wished Sierra had received the death penalty.

Ben Halseth, one of the victim’s brothers, showed the judge posters full of pictures of Daniel Halseth when he was young. He said his brother was a “great father,” and “all he wanted in life was to be a good dad to his kids.”

Tom Halseth, another brother, cried as he addressed the judge. He said Sierra and Guerrero took something away from him that he cannot ever get back.

“I can hear my brother asking me to forgive. And to be honest, I’m not sure that’s even possible,” Tom Halseth said.
