One worker was killed and a second was injured when a 10-foot-high, brick retaining wall collapsed in Brooklyn on Monday afternoon, authorities said.

The wall collapsed at 1:07 p.m. at 454 42nd St. in Sunnyside, cops said.

“Two patients were trapped under debris and required removal,” the FDNY said in an email. “One patient was pronounced dead on the scene, the other was transported (to) NYU Brooklyn.”

The identity of the dead worker wasn’t immediately released. The FNDY had 36 units and 126 members responded to the collapse.
The wall was behind a building at the address. The incident is under investigation, cops said.

In 2014, somebody complained to the Department of Buildings that a garden wall was buckling and wasn’t licensed.

The complaint was found unsubstantiated with the department noting that a license wasn’t required for such a wall. “The DOB inspected a retaining wall at this property in May 2014 following multiple complaints and found no evidence of the wall bulging or collapsing,” the DOB said in a statement. “Since then, we have not received any new complaints about this building and our inspectors are on scene to determine what occurred today.”
